ABOUT OUR 2010 THEME
BUSINESSMANIA! “Summer Slammin’ your Business into Success”
Our theme for 2010—BUSINESSMANIA! “Summer Slammin’ your Business into Success”—was conceptualized out of the widespread success of WrestleMania.
WrestleMania is a professional wrestling pay-per-view event, produced annually in late March or early April by World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) (formerly known as the World Wrestling Federation), and is the highlight of WWE’s year-long “season.” It is considered the flagship event of WWE, as it is the most successful and longest-running professional wrestling event in the world. WrestleMania is nicknamed “The Grandaddy of Them All.”
WRESTLEMANIA BEGINNINGS
WrestleMania has grown in magnitude over the years, so much so that it is now routinely held in football or baseball stadiums, many of which seat upward of 80,000 fans. The event also serves as a platform for WWE’s annual Hall of Fame inductions.
The event was first produced in 1985, and, as of 2010, 26 editions have been held consecutively since then in major cities such as New York City, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, Houston and Seattle. The year 2009 marked their 25th Anniversary.
The first-ever match in the event’s history took place on March 31, 1985, at Madison Square Garden in New York City, and featured Tito Santana facing the Executioner; the first-ever “main event” was Hulk Hogan and Mr. T taking on “Rowdy” Roddy Piper and “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. The event was broadcast on closed-circuit cable and aired at select movie theaters nationwide.
Conceptualized by WWE owner Vince McMahon, WrestleMania’s widespread success helped transform the professional-wrestling industry and make the WWE the most successful promotion in the world. WrestleMania has facilitated the rise to stardom of wrestlers such as The Undertaker, Hulk Hogan, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Steve Austin, The Rock, and Triple H, amongst others. Numerous celebrities such as Muhammad Ali, Mr. T, Alice Cooper, Lawrence Taylor, Pamela Anderson, Mike Tyson, Donald Trump, Floyd Mayweather, Snoop Dogg, Raven-Symoné, Kim Kardashian, Mickey Rourke, Jenny McCarthy and others have participated or made special appearances in the events.
The WWE’s television shows are tailored to reach their climax at WrestleMania, which features matches for the company’s championship titles, as well as specialty and gimmick matches. Participation in a WrestleMania match, and especially the main event, is considered by many wrestlers and fans alike as one of the greatest achievements and symbols of success in professional wrestling.

Strategize Your Location.
The location of your display can also help determine your business expo’s success. Merely selecting a booth area that will yield higher volumes of traffic can significantly improve your business expo experience. Select areas near entrances, exits, registration and press tables, and even near your competition can help a considerable amount. Avoid dead-end aisles and spaces that are obstructed by certain objects (columns, pipes, and etc). Easy accessibility can determine how inviting your booth is. Get your registration forms in early, so you can have the best seat in the house!
Business development is key in any sales strategy and attending business expos to get customers in the door is a necessity to keep your business moving. Check out this and next month’s CIC Reconnect e-newsletter for more of our advice on ramping up your business expo strategy and experience.
