    Long-term closure of two I-710 ramps at Washington Blvd. to begin in 2020

    Northbound I-710 Washington Blvd. off-ramp to close for five months starting this week
     
    COMMERCE, VERNON- The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) announces the closures of on/off-ramps on Interstate 710 (I-710) for a road resurfacing and bridge widening project. Residents and local businesses located near the freeway may experience noise, vibrations and dust associated with construction activities.
     
    Beginning on Monday, January 6 at 9 p.m., the northbound I-710 Washington Blvd. off-ramp will be closed for approximately five months to continue work on the bridge widening. Workers will be removing a bridge barrier, connecting the new structure with the current bridge, and paving the ramp. The southbound I-710 Washington Blvd on-ramp will also have an long-term closure of approximately five months starting Monday January 13 or Monday January 20, 2020.
     
    Closures for Monday, January 6 through Friday, January 10:  
     
    Northbound I-710 (7 p.m. to 6 a.m.)
     
    • Up to three lanes from Florence Ave. to Whittier Blvd. will be closed
    • Atlantic Blvd./Bandini Blvd. off-ramp
    • Atlantic Blvd. on-ramp
    • Washington Blvd. on ramp
    • Olympic Blvd. on and off-ramps
    • Northbound I-710 to northbound I-5 connector (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
    • Northbound I-5 to northbound I-710 Connector (9 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
     
    Southbound I-710 (7 p.m. to 6 a.m.)
     
    • Up to three lanes from Interstate 5 to Florence Ave. will be closed
    • Southbound I-710 to southbound I-5 connector
    • Southbound I-5 to southbound I-710 connector (11 p.m. – 5 a.m.)
    • Third St. on and off-ramps
    • Olympic/Whittier Blvd on and off-ramps
    • Eastern Ave. on and off-ramps
    • Washington Blvd. on and off-ramps
    • Atlantic Blvd./Bandini Blvd. on and off-ramps 
     
    Some closures may start and end later. All closures are weather permitting and subject to change. Motorists should expect delays and are strongly advised to use alternate routes. Drivers can check traffic conditions before they leave by visiting the Caltrans Quickmap.
     
    The work on I-710 is part of a $150.7 million pavement rehabilitation and bridge widening project that stretches 3.7 miles from Bell to East Los Angeles.
     
    Caltrans reminds drivers to be “Work Zone Alert” and to “Slow for the Cone Zone.”
